As a diverse, multinational collaboration, we strive to benefit from our breadth of experience while dignifying and respecting our differences regarding gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race, ethnicity, religious (or non-religious) affiliation, and politics.
We uphold the following principles:
• We will not tolerate harassment, bullying, discrimination, or retaliation in any form.
• We are committed to providing equal opportunity for all participants independent of personal and scientific experience. This includes fostering the next generation of researchers and providing it with resources to enable success.
• We expect the highest standards of academic integrity including ensuring the validity of our original scientific results and acknowledging, appropriately, the contribution of colleagues within and beyond our collaboration.
Violation of these principles, within the Collaboration or at a public event, will be handled by correction, reprimand, or expulsion, as appropriate. Anyone who is concerned about a violation of this policy may also speak, in confidence, to the following members of the executive committee: Katy Clough (k.clough@qmul.ac.uk) and Alex Lupsasca (alexandru.v.lupsasca@vanderbilt.edu). Broader sanctions are applicable under the Simons Code of Conduct (https://www.simonsfoundation.org/code-of-conduct/).
This Code of Conduct applies to all collaboration activities, including meetings (in-person and online), workshops, conferences, and digital communications (e.g., Slack, email, or shared documents).
• The scientific scope of our collaboration is defined initially by the content of our proposal, as reflected by the website https://www.simonscbhsg.com. This is expected to evolve, following scientific developments and discussions with the Simons Foundation.
• We intend to create a climate where ideas and unpublished results can be freely and confidentially discussed within the collaboration while allowing authorship, author order, and acknowledgment to reflect relative contributions and to be decided in a collegial manner.
• We endeavor to provide leadership opportunities to early career researchers.
